Scalloped Oysters - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. oysters
    3 c. cracker crumbs (about 48 (2-inch) crackers, crushed)
    2 to 4 Tbsp. melted butter or margarine
    cream or milk
    1 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    1/3 c. finely chopped onion
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
Preparation
    Drain oysters; reserve liquid.
    Remove any shell particles. Set oysters aside.
    Lightly toss 1 cup of crumbs with melted butter.
    Add enough cream or milk to reserved oyster liquid to yield 2 cups liquid.
    Stir in salt and pepper.
    Line a shallow, buttered 2-quart casserole with 1 cup of unbuttered crumbs. Arrange 2 cups of the oysters on the crumbs.
    Pour 1 cup liquid over all.
    Sprinkle with 1/2 of the chopped onion.
    Dot with 1/2 of the butter.
    Repeat procedure.
    Top with the buttered crumbs. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes or until thoroughly heated.
