Toffee Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. soft butter (or 1/2 margarine, 1/2 butter)
    1 c. brown sugar, packed (or 1 1/4 granulated)
    1 egg
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. vanilla
    6 oz. pkg. chocolate bits walnut pieces
Preparation
    Cream butter, then sugar and others except chocolate and nuts.
    Spread smoothly, thinly, and evenly on ungreased cookie sheet.
    Bake 15-20 minutes in 350\u00b0 oven. Melt the chocolate bits by sprinkling over hot dough.
    Spread chocolate with spatula.
    It then becomes icing.
    Sprinkle nuts over top. Cut into 2 inch squares while hot.
