Caramel Layer Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    14 oz. pkg. caramels (about 48)
    1/3 c. evaporated milk
    1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
    3/4 c. melted margarine
    1/3 c. evaporated milk
    1 c. pecans
    6 oz. chocolate chips
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease a 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Melt caramels with 1/3 cup evaporated milk in top of double boiler or in microwave.
    In a large bowl, combine by hand rest of ingredients, except chips.
    Stir until dough holds together. Press half of dough into pan and bake 6 to 8 minutes.
    Sprinkle chocolate chips over baked crust.
    Spread caramel mixture on top of chips.
    Spread remaining dough mixture over caramel and bake 15 to 20 minutes.
    Cool completely before cutting into squares.
