Carrots Au Gratin - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. carrots, peeled and sliced
    4 Tbsp. butter
    1 large onion, sliced
    1/2 c. sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
    3 c. water
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. bread crumbs
    4 Tbsp. flour
    2 tsp. butter
Preparation
    Cook carrots and onion in boiling salted water for 15 minutes. Drain reserving 2 cups of cooking water.
    Melt 2 tablespoons butter.
    Blend in flour; gradually add cooking water, stirring until thick and smooth.
    Let boil for 2 minutes; remove from heat. Stir in cheese until melted.
    Arrange vegetables in casserole. Pour sauce over vegetables.
    Cover with bread crumbs.
    Dot with 2 tablespoons butter.
    Bake at 350\u00b0
    for 30 minutes.
