Bread Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. and 1/2 c. milk
    2 c. white bread
    1 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. butter
    4 eggs
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Scald milk on stove top; do not boil.
    Grease a 2-quart baking dish with butter and set aside.
    Set milk off stove and add bread, sugar and butter.
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Beat eggs.
    Add salt and vanilla.
    Gently stir bread mixture into egg mixture and pour into baking dish.
    Sprinkle with nutmeg.
    Set dish in a pan of water on bottom shelf of oven.
    Put approximately 1 inch of water in pan. Bake for 1 hour.
    Insert wet knife into the pudding.
    If knife comes out clean, it is done.
