Hard Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    powdered sugar
    3 3/4 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. Karo light corn syrup
    1 c. water
    1/2 tsp. flavoring oil
    food coloring
Preparation
    Sprinkle 18 x 24-inch strip of heavy duty aluminum foil with powdered sugar.
    Mix sugar, corn syrup and water in large heavy saucepan.
    Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
    Boil, without stirring, until temperature reaches 310\u00b0 or until drops of syrup form hard and brittle threads in cold water.
    Remove from heat.
    Stir in flavoring oil and coloring.
    Pour onto foil.
    Cool. Break into pieces.
    Store in airtight container.
    Makes 2 1/4 pounds.
