Icebox Relish - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 medium cabbages
    6 medium onions
    4 or 5 green tomatoes (I use more)
    4 or 5 green and red bell peppers
    1/2 c. salt
    2 c. sugar
    3 c. vinegar
    1 tsp. turmeric
    1 Tbsp. celery seed
    1 Tbsp. white mustard seed
    a few hot peppers, cut in large pieces
    1 jar cocktail onions (optional)
    cauliflower (optional)
Preparation
    Cut cabbages, onions, tomatoes and green and red bell peppers finely.
    Add salt and mix.
    Let set for 30 minutes or longer. Squeeze dry with hands or in a bag.
    Add remaining ingredients. Keep in refrigerator.
    Keeps several weeks.
