Grandma Benson'S Coffee Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. all-purpose flour
    1 1/4 c. lukewarm milk
    1 pkg. dry yeast
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 small egg
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. melted butter
    2 tsp. ground cardamom
    sugar and chopped almonds as topping
Preparation
    Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup milk.
    Mix remaining milk, sugar, egg, salt, butter and cardamom in a large bowl.
    Add a small amount of the flour and mix well.
    Add yeast and remaining flour, beating with a wooden spoon until dough is smooth and firm. Sprinkle dough with a bit of flour; cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in bulk, about 2 hours.
    Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth.
    Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
