Italian Cream Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 stick margarine
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    5 eggs, separated
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    1 c. chopped pecans
    1 c. coconut (optional)
Preparation
    Cream the margarine and shortening; add sugar gradually.
    Add egg yolks and beat well.
    Mix flour, soda and salt and add to the creamed mixture with buttermilk.
    Stir in vanilla, pecans and coconut.
    Fold in beaten egg whites.
    Pour into 3 round cake pans. Bake at 300\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
