Date Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 1/2 c. dates, chopped
1 1/2 c. boiling water
3/4 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. shortening
1 egg
1 tsp. burnt sugar flavoring
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. pecans, chopped
Preparation

Pour boiling water over dates.
Let stand.
Cream shortening, sugar, egg and flavoring.
Beat in date mixture.
Sift dry ingredients.
Add together.
Pour in well-greased and floured loaf pans.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour.
