Individual Strawberry Shortcakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sifted flour
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. butter or shortening
    3/4 c. milk
    2 qt. strawberries, crushed and sweetened
Preparation
    Sift flour once.
    Measure.
    Add baking powder and salt and sift again.
    Cut in shortening.
    Add milk all at once and stir carefully until all flour is dampened.
    Then stir vigorously until mixture forms a soft dough and follows spoon around bowl.
    Drop 3/4 cup dough onto ungreased baking sheet*.
    Brush with milk (or cream). Bake in hot oven (450\u00b0) for 15 to 20 minutes.
    Serves 8.
