Meringue - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. sugar, divided
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 c. water
3 egg whites
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Combine 1/4 cup sugar, cornstarch and salt in a saucepan; stirring constantly.
Add water and cook over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil.
Boil for 1 minute.
Cool completely. Beat egg whites at high speed of an electric mixer until foamy. Gradually add remaining 1/4 cup of sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, beating until soft peaks form.
Add vanilla and cornstarch mixture. Beat until stiff peaks form, enough for one 9-inch pie.
