Ingredients

1 3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 1/2 c. cold water
2 Tbsp. butter
2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 Tbsp. butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. milk
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Combine brown sugar, cold water and butter; bring to a boil and cool.
Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Cream together butter and sugar.
Add the dry ingredients alternately with milk.
Spread into greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Pour brown sugar mixture over batter.
Sprinkle with nuts.
Bake 35 to 40 minutes at 350\u00b0.
Serve warm with whipped cream.
