Holiday Fruit Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. soft shortening
    2 c. brown sugar
    2 eggs
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    3 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 c. chopped pecans
    2 c. candied cherries
    2 c. chopped dates
Preparation
    Mix well the shortening, sugar and eggs.
    Add milk and remaining ingredients.
    Stir in fruit and nuts.
    Chill dough overnight. Drop by spoonfuls onto cookie sheet and bake at 400\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
