Apple Pie Filling - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    apples, peeled and sliced
    4 1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. cornstarch
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg (optional)
    1 tsp. salt
    10 c. cold water
    3 Tbsp. lemon juice
Preparation
    Peel and slice apples.
    Pack in jars, leaving 1-inch headspace.
    Combine sugar, cornstarch, nutmeg and salt together. Stir in the cold water.
    Put on stove and stir until thick and bubbly.
    Add lemon juice.
    Pour hot syrup into jars, making sure there are no air holes.
    Keep syrup hot while putting into jars. Process at 15 pounds pressure for 15 minutes.
