Italian Cream Cake With Frosting - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. soda
    5 eggs, separated
    1 stick oleo
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. pecans
    1 c. coconut
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 c. sifted flour
Preparation
    Combine soda and buttermilk and let stand for a few minutes. Beat egg whites until stiff.
    Cream the sugar, oleo and shortening. Add egg yolks, one at a time.
    Beat after each.
    Add buttermilk alternately with flour to creamed mixture.
    Stir in vanilla and fold in egg whites.
    Add pecans and coconut.
    Put in 3 greased and floured pans.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
