Pecan Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. white sugar
    1/2 c. water
    1/2 c. white syrup
    pinch of salt
    1 c. raw peanuts
    2 (level) tsp. soda
Preparation
    Into heavy kettle, put first four ingredients; bring to a boil.
    Boil until syrup spins a thread; add peanuts.
    Stir and cook until mixture just begins to brown.
    Remove from heat; stir in soda.
    When soda is well mixed and mixture still foaming, pour into shallow 8 x 12-inch pan or cookie sheet; do not spread.
    When cold, break into pieces.
