Chop Suey - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. pork (pork steaks or pork chops or pork tenderloin)
    2 Tbsp. corn starch
    3 Tbsp. soy sauce
    1 1/2 tsp. salt or 1/4 tsp. monosodium glutamate (optional)
    1/4 tsp. ginger
    2 Tbsp. salad oil
    2 c. thinly shredded Chinese cabbage (optional)
    1 c. thinly sliced celery
    1 bunch green onion, cut into 1-inch pieces
    1 (16 oz.) can bean sprouts, drained
    1 (6 or 8 1/2 oz.) can water chestnuts, drained and thinly sliced
    1 (5 or 6 oz.) can bamboo shoots, drained and sliced
    3 c. hot cooked rice
Preparation
    About 45 minutes before serving:
    With sharp knife, slice pork into thin and bite-size pieces.
    In small bowl combine cornstarch, next 4 ingredients and 1/2 cup water; set aside.
