Bran Loaf Bread - cooking recipe

1 1/2 c. Bran Flakes
1 1/3 c. milk
2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 c. sugar
1 Tbsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1 egg, well beaten
1/4 c. shortening, melted
Preparation

Soften cereal in milk.
Sift flour with sugar, baking powder and salt.
Stir egg and shortening into softened cereal.
Add flour mixture; stir just until all flour is moistened.
Pour into greased 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
Bake at 360\u00b0 for about 45 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean.
Cool in pan for 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely on rack.
For easier cutting, store in refrigerator overnight (wrapped).
