Rich Scones - cooking recipe

8 oz. self-rising flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 oz. Crisco or margarine
1 oz. sugar
milk (to make soft dough)
2 Tbsp. sultana raisins
1 egg, beaten (put aside 1 Tbsp.)
Preparation

Mix flour and salt in a bowl.
Rub in Crisco or margarine. Mix in fruit and sugar.
Stir in beaten egg and milk. Make into soft dough.
Roll out to thickness of 1/2-inch and cut in rounds with a 2 1/2-inch scone cutter. Place on greased baking sheet. Brush over tops with tablespoon of beaten egg. Bake in a 425\u00b0 to 450\u00b0 oven for about 10 minutes, gas oven 7 to 8 minutes.
