Pennsylvania Pot Roast - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (3 to 4 lb.) chuck roast
    2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 tsp. paprika
    3 Tbsp. flour
    1/2 lb. diced bacon
    1 c. sliced sweet gherkins
    1 large chopped onion
    1 crushed clove garlic
    1 c. water
    1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
    1/2 c. sour cream
Preparation
    Rub roast with salt, pepper, paprika and flour.
    Cook bacon until crisp; drain on absorbent paper, crumble.
    Brown roast in baking pan in 3 tablespoons bacon fat.
    Add gherkins, onion, garlic, water and tomato sauce.
    Bring to a boil; cover and simmer for 2 1/2 hours until tender.
    Blend sour cream and pan gravy; heat.
    Stir in bacon bits and serve with roast.
    Serves 6.
