Ingredients

2 c. all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. butter
1 1/4 c. sugar, divided
1/4 c. unsulfured molasses
1 egg
Preparation

In bowl combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and salt.
In large saucepan melt butter over low heat.
Remove from heat, cool.
Stir in 1 c. sugar, molasses and egg, beating with wooden spoon.
Beat in the dry ingredients until well combined.
Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour or overnight.
