Holiday Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 egg, well beaten
    1 c. molasses
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. ground cloves
    1 tsp. ginger
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. hot water
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar.
    Add egg and molasses.
    Sift dry ingredients and add to mix.
    Add hot water and beat until smooth. Pour in a greased and floured 9-inch pan; bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes.
