Spicy Picadillo - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 large onions, finely chopped
    2 Tbsp. bacon drippings or butter
    2 lb. ground beef
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1 tsp. ground cloves
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    2 cans Ro-Tel tomatoes
    2 tsp. sugar
    1 c. raisins
    2 tsp. ground cumin
    1 1/4 c. slivered almonds, toasted
    salt to taste
    corn chips or tostados
Preparation
    Brown onions in drippings or butter in a large pan.
    Add beef and brown; drain excess fat.
    Add garlic, cloves, cinnamon, tomatoes and sugar; simmer for approximately 1 hour, covered.
    Add raisins and cumin; simmer, covered, for 20 minutes.
    Add almonds. Simmer, covered, for 10 minutes.
    Salt to taste.
    Serve hot in a chafing dish with chips.
