Eggnog - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    12 eggs, separated
    4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    6 qt. milk
    1 1/2 pt. cream or half and half
    1 1/2 c. whiskey (optional)
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Beat egg yolks until lemon colored.
    Beat in sugar and salt. Slowly add whiskey, cream, nutmeg and milk.
    Fold in well beaten egg whites.
    Makes 2 gallons.
