Meat And Vegetable Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. meat, either ground or cubed
    1 onion, sliced
    4 to 6 c. vegetables, cut bite size (may include potatoes, carrots, peppers, yellow or zucchini squash, tomatoes, broccoli or other favorites)
    1 clove garlic or 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
    1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
    1 Tbsp. cooking wine
    2 bay leaves
    2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. pepper
    1/2 tsp. ground cloves
Preparation
    Brown meat (using no more than 2 tablespoons oil, if needed). Drain fat or oil completely.
    Add 2 to 3 cups water and sliced onion.
    Set aside vegetables.
    Add all other ingredients to meat and water in pan.
    Stir together, bring to boil, reduce heat, then cover and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
    Add potatoes and carrots, if used.
    Add water to almost cover meat and vegetables.
    Cover; simmer for 30 minutes.
    Add other vegetables. Add water, if needed.
    Cover; simmer 15 to 30 minutes, or until vegetables are of desired tenderness.
