Congo Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. brown sugar
    1 c. shortening
    3 eggs
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 c. pecans (optional)
    1 lb. chocolate chips (optional)
Preparation
    Mix all the ingredients and bake at 325\u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes in an 11 x 13 x 2-inch pan (greased).
