Ingredients

3 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. almond extract
1 egg
1 c. blanched almonds
Preparation

Sift flour, salt and soda together.
Cream shortening; add egg and almond extract.
Gradually add dry ingredients and mix well. Roll into 1 inch balls and place on a cookie sheet.
Press in one almond in center of cookie.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 minutes.
Makes approximately 50 cookies.
Note:
Sesame seed may be used instead of almonds.
