Ingredients

2 c. sugar
5 eggs
1 c. shortening (Grandma used Jewel Tea products for everything, I use Crisco shortening)
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
5 c. flour, approximately
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar.
Beat in eggs, one at a time.
Add vanilla.
In separate bowl, mix 1 cup flour and remaining dry ingredients.
Add to egg mixture.
Mix in flour, 1 cup at a time, to right consistency.
Flour board well, roll dough and cut. Sprinkle with sugar or sprinkles.
