Chop Suey - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. chop suey meat
    1/2 bottle bead molasses
    water
    1 large stalk celery
    3 large onions
    salt and pepper
    1 can chop suey vegetables, drained
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1 can sliced water chestnuts (optional)
Preparation
    Brown meat; cover and braise until tender.
    Put in large kettle with molasses and rinse jar with water for liquid.
    Add chopped celery and onions.
    Slowly cook, covered, for 1 hour. Season to taste, stirring often.
    Add drained vegetables.
    Fifteen minutes before serving, add cornstarch mixed with 1/2 cup water. Serve with rice and/or chow mein noodles.
