Sweet Relish - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 qt. chopped cucumbers
2 c. chopped red peppers
2 c. chopped green peppers
2 c. chopped onions
1 Tbsp. turmeric
2 sticks cinnamon
1 Tbsp. mustard seed
2 tsp. whole allspice
2 tsp. whole cloves
1/2 c. salt
1 qt. vinegar
4 c. brown sugar
Preparation

Combine cucumbers, peppers and onions.
Sprinkle with turmeric.
Dissolve salt in 2 quarts cold water.
Pour over vegetables and let stand for 3 to 4 hours.
Drain; cover vegetables with cold water and let stand for 1 hour.
Drain.
Tie the spices in a bag; add to the brown sugar and vinegar.
Heat to boiling and pour over the vegetables.
Cover and let stand for 12 to 18 hours in a cool place.
Simmer until vegetables are hot. Bring to a boil; pour into jars and seal.
