Maraschino Cherry Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/4 c. cake flour
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 1/3 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/4 c. maraschino juice
    16 maraschino cherries, cut
    1/2 c. milk
    4 unbeaten egg whites
    1/2 c. walnuts
Preparation
    Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
    Stir well and add shortening, cherry juice, cherries and milk.
    Beat for two minutes.
    Add egg whites; beat 2 minutes.
    Fold in walnuts.
    Pour mixture into 2 round waxed layer pans.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
