Oven-Fried Onion Rings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    nonstick cooking spray
    1/2 c. fine dry bread crumbs
    2 Tbsp. melted margarine
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. ground red pepper (optional)
    2 medium mild yellow or white onions
    2 slightly beaten egg whites
Preparation
    Slice onions 1/4-inch thick and separate into rings.
    Spray a large baking sheet with nonstick coating.
    In a small mixing bowl, stir together bread crumbs, melted margarine, salt and if desired, ground red pepper.
    Spread mixture on a sheet of waxed paper. Using a fork, dip onion rings into egg whites, then bread crumb mixture.
    Arrange in a single layer on prepared baking sheet.
    Bake at 450\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes or until onions are tender and coating is crisp and golden.
