Health Bread - cooking recipe

1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
1 c. all-purpose flour
3/4 c. plus 1 Tbsp. wheat germ
1/2 c. instant, nonfat dry milk
3/4 to 1 c. raisins
2 Tbsp. granulated sugar
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 3/4 c. water
Preparation

Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
Grease 2 (1 pound) shortening cans or other 2 1/2-cup cans.
There are small (2 1/2 cup) loaf pans.
Mix all ingredients, except 1 tablespoon wheat germ, and the water in a medium size bowl.
Stir in water until just blended.
Spoon into cans, smooth top and sprinkle with remaining wheat germ.
Bake until tops are golden brown and pick inserted in center comes out clean.
As soon as out of oven, remove from cans and put in zip-lock bags.
Great with split pea soup.
