Grandmother Holmes' Oyster Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 chopped green onions
    2 Tbsp. melted butter
    12 oz. undrained oysters
    1 qt. milk or half and half
    salt and pepper
    red pepper
Preparation
    In Dutch oven, saute onions in butter until tender.
    Add remaining ingredients to onions.
    Cook over low heat until edges of oysters begin to curl and mixture is hot.
    Do not boil.
    Serve with crackers.
