Coconut Custard Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 eggs, separated
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 c. scalded milk
    dash of salt
    1/2 c. shredded coconut
    8-inch pie shell, lightly baked
Preparation
    Beat egg yolks with the sugar.
    Add milk gradually, salt, then coconut and stiffly beaten whites.
    If desired, mix 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch with the sugar and use only 2 eggs.
    Fill shell and bake 30 minutes at 300\u00b0.
