Ingredients

4 large mild onions
2 to 4 Tbsp. butter
2 to 3 bouillon cubes, dissolved
3 c. water
1/4 c. grated Italian or dehydrated American cheese
salt
4 slices French bread or hard rolls
Preparation

Chop onions.
Place in medium saucepan with butter.
Cover and cook until tender, not brown.
Add bouillon.
Simmer for 20 minutes.
Sprinkle bread or slice rolls with cheese and toast in hot oven.
Pour soup in deep bowl.
Place toasted bread on top just before serving.
