Black Bean Soup(With Secret Ingredient) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 Tbsp. canola oil
    1 large onion, chopped
    4 cloves garlic, minced
    1 Tbsp. ground cumin
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
    4 c. fat-free chicken broth
    3 (15 oz.) cans black beans (Southwestern beans)
    1 (16 oz.) can pumpkin
    1 (30 oz.) can garlic flavored diced tomatoes
    2 Tbsp. cider vinegar
    1 lb. low-fat ham, diced
    1/2 c. shredded Parmesan cheese (optional)
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    In a large soup pot, heat oil. Add onions and cook over medium heat until lightly brown. Add garlic, cumin, cinnamon and cayenne pepper. Cook for 1 minute. Add all remaining ingredients except cheese. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer for 30 to 40 minutes or until ready to serve. Add extra chicken broth if it gets too thick.
