American Indian Fry Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. warm water
powdered or granulated sugar to sprinkle over
Preparation

Sift flour, salt and baking powder together.
Stir in beaten egg.
Add water to make soft dough.
Round up on lightly floured surface.
Knead lightly.
Roll or pat out 1/2-inch thick.
Shape in forms of turtles, snakes, pretzels or just plain strips.
Slit centers.
Drop into hot oil in skillet.
Brown on both sides. Serve hot.
Good too with pinto beans, soup, or with maple syrup.
