Citrus Simmered Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 to 2 lb. round steak, cut 1 3/4-inches thick
    2 Tbsp. cooking oil
    1/2 c. (4 oz. can) drained mushroom pieces (if desired)
    1/2 c. (1 medium) onion slices
    2 Tbsp. barbecue sauce or catsup
    1 Tbsp. lemon juice or orange juice
    1 tsp. soy sauce
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 lemons or oranges, sliced
    1/4 c. water
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1 tsp. grated lemon or orange peel
    1/8 tsp. ground thyme
Preparation
    In large frypan, brown meat in oil on both sides.
    Add mushrooms, onion, barbecue sauce, lemon or orange juice, soy sauce, lemon or orange peel, salt and thyme.
    Simmer, covered, 1 1/2 to 2 hours, until meat is tender.
