Caramel Layer Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. soda
    1/2 c. packed brown sugar
    3/4 c. quick cooking oatmeal
    1/2 c. butter
    24 light colored caramels
    2 Tbsp. cream
    2 Tbsp. flour
    1/2 c. chocolate chips
Preparation
    Combine flour, salt, soda, brown sugar, and oatmeal.
    Cut butter until particles are fine.
    Reserve 1 cup. Press remaining mixture in bottom of 8-inch square pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 minutes.
    Combine caramel and cream in double boiler.
    Cook over hot water until melted.
    Blend in 2 Tbsp. flour and spread carefully over base.
    Sprinkle with chocolate chips, then top with reserved crumbs.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 12-15 minutes or until delicately browned.
    Makes about 24 bars.
