Italian Cream Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 stick margarine
    1/2 c. vegetable shortening
    2 c. sugar
    5 egg yolks
    2 c. plain flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. chopped pecans
    1 small can coconut
    5 egg whites, beaten stiff
Preparation
    Cream margarine, shortening
    and
    sugar.
    Add egg yolks and beat well.
    Combine flour and soda, add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.
    Stir
    in
    vanilla,
    coconut
    and nuts.
    Mix well.
    Fold in
    egg whites.
    Pour batter in three 8 or 9-inch cake pans
    that have been greased and floured.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 minutes or until done.
