Date Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. boiling water
    1 c. chopped dates
    3/4 c. raisins
    2 Tbsp. soft butter
    1 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 egg
    1 1/3 c. sifted flour
    3/4 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Pour soda and boiling water over dates and raisins; set aside. Cream butter and sugar.
    Add vanilla, then egg.
    Beat well.
    Add flour and mix.
    Pour in fruit mixture, water and pecans.
    Mix and bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 to 55 minutes in 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
