War Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. brown sugar
2 c. hot water
2 tsp. shortening
1/2 to 3/4 c. raisins
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
3 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. hot water
Preparation

Mix first 7 ingredients in a medium size sauce pan and bring to a boil; boil for 5 minutes. Allow this mixture to cool until it is completely cold (mixture must be cold). Stir in flour; mix well. Dissolve baking soda in 2 tsp. hot water; add and mix well. Pour into a greased tube pan. Bake for 1 hour at 350\u00b0 to 375\u00b0.
