Ingredients

1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation

Cream butter; add sugar gradually, creaming until fluffy.
Add unbeaten egg and vanilla; beat well.
Sift together dry ingredients.
Blend with creamed mixture.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 8 minutes.
