Real Red Devil'S Food Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 c. sifted flour
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 1/4 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1/3 c. cocoa
    1/2 c. soft shortening
    2/3 c. milk
    another 1/3 c. milk
    2 eggs (1/3 to 1/2 c.)
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Sift together into bowl flour, sugar, soda, salt and cocoa. Add shortening and 2/3 cup milk.
    Beat 2 minutes.
    Add another 1/3 cup milk, the eggs and vanilla.
    Beat 2 more minutes.
    Pour into prepared pans.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 until cake tests done.
    Cool.
    Finish with White Mountain Frosting.
    Bake 8-inch layers 35 to 40 minutes, 9-inch layers 30 to 35 minutes and oblong 45 to 50 minutes.
