Kahlua - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. fine ground Yuban coffee
    1 1/2 qt. water
    3 lb. sugar
    1 1/2 qt. water
    3 half pt. Everclear 190 proof
    10 oz. imitation vanilla (the cheapest you can find; don't use real vanilla!)
Preparation
    Simmer first 2 ingredients for 30 minutes, with lid on. Simmer next 2 ingredients for 1 hour, with lid on.
    Cook coffee and sugar mixtures separately.
    Be sure the coffee mixture has cooled, then drain through a linen napkin 6 times.
    Combine strained coffee with the sugar-water mixture.
    Add vanilla. Bottle and let the Kahlua sit 1 month before drinking.
    This makes a great holiday gift!
