Almond Cream Filling - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. flour
    1/4 c. sugar
    1/4 c. cold milk
    1 c. hot milk
    butter or margarine
    1/2 c. confectioners sugar
    2 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. slivered almonds
Preparation
    Combine flour, sugar and cold milk.
    Add to hot milk in saucepan.
    Cook, stirring constantly, until thick, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat; cool to lukewarm.
    Cream 1/2 cup butter, confectioners sugar and vanilla.
    Add to cooled cooked mixture. Brown almonds in 1 tablespoon butter.
    Add to filling.
    Chill until firm enough to spread on cake or chiffon roll.
    Yields 12 servings.
