Holiday Cranberry Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 bag fresh cranberries
    1 c. water
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 large box red jello (cherry or any flavor)
    1 large can crushed pineapple
    1 c. chopped walnuts (more may be added)
    6 c. diced, peeled apples
Preparation
    Wash cranberries.
    In a medium saucepan, add cranberries and 1 cup water.
    Cook berries until they pop open.
    Take off heat.
    Add sugar and jello.
    Stir well until dissolved.
    Add crushed pineapple (juice and all), apples and nuts.
    Mix well.
    Pour into glass bowl and refrigerate until jelled.
    May be topped with Cool Whip.
