Chocolate Gem Pie - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. flour
2/3 c. ground pecans
1/4 c. packed brown sugar
3 Tbsp. shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sifted powdered sugar
2 Tbsp. chocolate syrup
3/4 c. butter, softened
1/2 to 1 tsp. instant coffee
2 eggs
3 sq. unsweetened chocolate
1 c. whipping cream
1 Tbsp. powdered sugar
Preparation

For crust, combine flour, pecans and brown sugar.
In a heavy saucepan, melt shortening and 1 square of chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly.
Stir into flour mixture until combined.
Mix vanilla and water and sprinkle over mixture while tossing.
Form into a ball.
Roll out to make a 12-inch circle between 2 sheets of wax paper.
Remove waxed paper.
Place crust into a 9-inch pie plate; flute edge.
Prick well.
Bake until surface appears dry. Cool.
